Access Humboldt will be kicking off 2012 with the lecture “Travel Photography and More – Swaziland” by local photographer, Gary Todoroff, on Thursday, January 19, at 6pm, in the Eureka High School Lecture Hall.

Gary Todoroff has a vast background in aerial, commercial, and fine art photography, as well as experience in teaching the trade. His work presents a visual delight to anyone taking the time to look, whether as a photographer or interested observer.

This Lecture will focus on Todoroff’s work in Swaziland, Africa. He has documented the transition of an abandoned mining town, Bulembu, into a self-supporting community for orphan care. Photo assignments have covered a wide range, from taking the grade-school group photograph to safaris in near-by Kruger National Park.

Along with an inside look at a vibrant African community, Gary will also describe some of the techniques he used as the town’s resident photographer.

Cost of admission is $5 per person and all are welcome to attend.

Todoroff will also teach 2-hour workshop series, beginning Wednesday, January 18, 6pm-8pm. The workshops are geared towards beginner photographers and will cover fundamental photography principles.
