JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Office Assistant/Bookkeeper for Access Humboldt
Location: Eureka
Status: 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
Compensation: $12.00 hour
Summary:
The Office Assistant/Bookkeeper [OAB] works under the supervision of the Executive
Assistant. The OAB will assist with administrative functions, with a focus on bookkeeping, assigned by
the Executive Assistant. This position requires frequent use of tact, discretion, and initiative.
Responsibilities require regular contact with government officials, public school personnel and student
body, representatives of business, community organizations, and the public.
Duties:
• Is responsible for the maintenance of financial record-keeping & files
• Manages Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable using the Access Humboldt bookkeeping
program on QuickBooks Pro
• Opens and records incoming mail
• Prepares bank deposits
• Assists with preparation of financial reports for grant applications and funders
• Assists the Executive Assistant to ensure that all federal & state labor law and tax standards are met
• Assists the Executive Assistant in the development of a Volunteer Management program
• Assists the Executive Assistant in managing an archive system for all administrative material.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience in bookkeeping using QuickBooks Pro or similar accounting software. Nonprofit financial
management experience a plus. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the Board and staff.
Maturity, good public image, and ability to deal and interface well with professionals in non-profit,
governmental and educational settings. Demonstrated ability to function effectively on a team.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience with the following
abilities, tasks, hardware, software, and/or systems: QuickBooks Pro, Excel, database program(s), and
word processing.
The OAB will work with the staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, membership, vendors, customers and
committees of Access Humboldt.
