Local Voices Through Community Media - Engage - Connect - Educate

Here are strategic plan directions guiding Access Humboldt's efforts -

Facilities and Infrastructure:
- Develop facilities for community use - interim and long term
- Partner with local governments for live coverage of public meetings
- Develop network connectivity across the County
- Improve function and quality of existing cable TV channels
- Provide innovative online services
- Extend media access through satellite facilities and mobile production equipment

Program Development:
- Build channel identities with distinct P-E-G brands
- Create partnerships with other local media – broadcast, print and online
- Develop special projects to meet community needs
- Train community producers and non-profit organizations
- Evaluate and assess services to improve quality and diversity of programming

Outreach and Advocacy:
- Create mechanisms to measure effectiveness
- Gather producer and viewer feedback
- Ensure outreach to all areas and diverse communities
- Improve understanding of public policy issues for community media
- Monitor National, State, and local legislative and regulatory activity
- Develop policy positions for advocacy of community needs and interests

Human Resources:
- Develop highly effective and motivated staff
- Build volunteer participation and support
- Provide staff training and education
- Incentives for staff retention and performance

Funding Development:
- Develop fundraising plan with diverse and sustainable revenue sources
- Provide contract services for local governments and non-profit organizations
- Attract sponsorship and underwriting to support programs and activities

Future Planning:
- Complete strategic, operations, marketing and fundraising plans
- Ongoing implementation of plans
- Expand production and viewership services
- Create mechanisms for ongoing evaluation and needs assessment
- Plan for innovation and constant quality improvement
