Alerts regarding Access Humboldt's channels

Friday the 13th! March 2009: Channel 12 is off the air due to technical difficulties at Suddenlink. Our technicians have been working non-stop on restoring the signal. Access Humboldt staff are available at (707) 476-1798

Monday March 9th 2009: FSTV Update! Democracy NOW! INN News, GRIT TV and Gay USA will be back soon. The replacement satellite equipment has been ordered and will be installed as soon as it arrives. Thank you again for your patience.

MONDAY February 23rd 2009: Classic Arts Showcase will be temporarily absent from the weekday afternoon lineup due to major technical difficulties with the HSU satellite. FSTV programs - democracy NOW, INN News, GRIT TV and Gay USA are temporarily off the air due to technical difficulties with a different satellite. We are working to get these popular programs back on the air. Thanks for your patience.

FRIDAY January 12th 2009: Channel 12 is off the air due to a localized electrical problem. Our IT team responded immediately and are working to restore the channel.

CHANNEL 10& 12 off the Air: Wednesday Oct 1 2008 due to widespread cable outage. Suddenlink has a broken cable fiber and their crews are working on fixing it. Wendy Purnell gave me the following update this afternoon: A large bundle of fiber was cut on old Arcata Road - the repair involves splicing 68 individual fibers - this takes about 10 minutes each. Suddenlink has parts of Arcata back online and will keep working until the repairs are done. TUESDAY Sept 30th 2008: CHANNEL 8 changes! As of September 30, 2008, Annenberg Media is discontinuing the satellite delivery of the Annenberg Channel. Access to Annenberg programs will continue through www.learner.org. Channel 8 "EDUC8" will continue to feature educational programming and offer College of the Redwoods Distance Learning Classes. many thanks to Keet for providing the Annenberg content.

MONDAY AUGUST 18 2008. Access Humboldt Channels Civic-10 and AH-12 are temporarily off the air due to a local power outage. Programming will resume as soon as electricity is restored.

Several People have been asking about the February 2009 conversion to Digital Television.

"What You Need to Know About DTV" is currently airing on channels 11 and 12. The talk was given by the FCC at the Humboldt County Library in June 2008 and recorded by Access Humboldt.

"DIGITAL TELEVISION: What Every Consumer should know" is a booklet published by the FCC.
