Overview

Access Humboldt is a non-profit, community media organization formed in April 2006 to manage local cable franchise benefits on behalf of the County of Humboldt, California and the Cities of Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, Rio Dell, Ferndale and Blue Lake.

Community media resources of Access Humboldt include: cable access TV channels; a planned wide area broadband network with dedicated optic fiber connections to twenty locations serving local jurisdictions, educational institutions and other public facilities; broadband access wireless networks; a Community Media Center with studio and other production equipment and training on the Eureka High School campus; and ongoing operational support for public, educational and governmental access media services from franchised cable operator, Suddenlink Communications.

Access Humboldt’s Board of Directors convenes regular public meetings, provides local accountability and sets governing policy to guide the organization

Access Humboldt's mission is "Local voices through community media."

We are an innovative, self-sustaining and trusted media resource for residents of Humboldt County.

Diverse community members utilize local access media resources to engage in meaningful conversations that increase participation in civic life.

Local governments, educational institutions and community-based organizations find AH's services to be indispensable.

Digital media production is a growing industry that supports a continually improving quality of life.

North Coast residents are among the most media literate people in the world - sharing new ideas and advanced methods to empower local voices for significant positive impact on society.

Access Humboldt provides low-cost production services that include: Pre-production planning, budget estimates, meeting coverage, location shoots, and studio productions as well as post production services. Our production team will help you create a PSA, re-package videos you already have, or produce new content to fit your needs.

Community Media Center


Access Humboldt's Community Media Center (CMC) serves as a regional hub for PEG broadband communications and digital media productions. Members of Access Humboldt can make use of the studio facility, editing workstations, and check out equipment. read more
